Testing a Transformer - How To Accurately Test A Transformer

There is two types of transformers in the market- linear transformer and switch mode power transformer. The transformers design is different. Sometimes it is just referred as ac transformer. Linear transformer mostly used in radio, project kits, VCD and etc while switch mode transformer can be found in Monitor, Tv, Fax and so on.

A transformer consists of two or more coils wound on the same core. For power transformers, the core material is usually iron. For a radio-frequency transformer, the core material is usually ferrite or air. The basic property of a transformer is to change AC voltage. A transformer cannot change direct current voltage. A step down transformer has a lower AC output voltage at its secondary winding than the AC input voltage to its primary winding. Conversely, a step up transformer has a higher secondary than primary voltage. The transformer laminations or coating of shellac, enamel or varnish is to insulate adjacent turns from shorts between winding. I will not go too details about how transformer work and transformer calculation as you can read more details from most electrical and electronic transformers books.

How to test transformers: Transformer failures are relatively rare in most electronic equipment, compared with other components. If too much current goes through a coil or winding, the winding heats up and can either open up completely, or the insulation between turns of wire can break down, causing the coil to be partly or completely shorted.

Just like a coil, you can check continuity of any primary or secondary transformer winding. The actual value of DC resistance you read is rather meaningless, but at least you will know whether a winding is open. Checking linear transformer is quite straight forward. Apply the ac voltage to the primary winding and expect output voltage at the secondary side. No or low output voltage means the transformer winding has open or shorted winding. Look for any evidence of overheating, such as darkened or blackened areas or a burnt smell.

About how to test a power transformer-it is a little bit complicated. You cannot apply ac voltage to the equipment and expect the desire output at the secondary side without connect to load otherwise over voltage will happen (because you have removed all the secondary load) and will blow the power section which consist of power fet, pwm ic and etc. Switch mode power supply are designed to run with load while linear transformer can be test without load.

The best way to test a switch mode power transformer is first remove it from the board. Check only the primary winding as secondary winding failures are exceedingly rare. How do we know which one is the primary winding? Trace from the big filter cap the positive pin to see where the circuit goes. It will go to one of the pin of the transformer. Then look for the power fet middle pin which is the Drain and it will lead to another pin of the transformer. This two pins is the primary winding of the transformer. Checking the resistance of the primary winding only can reveal whether it is open but it cannot check if it has developed a shorted winding. Only by using a ringer test you will know if it shorted or not. A shorted turn in the primary winding can cause the power section to blow.

The cheapest ringer tester that i came across is Dick Smith LOPT METER or flyback tester. Just connect the probes to the primary winding and the result are instantly seen from the Led bar graph. 4-8 bar represent a good winding, 1-2 bar represent partial short and if the led goes off means there is a heavy short in the winding. Besides checking the transformer it can be use to check B+ COIL, horizontal yoke coil and flyback primary winding and ballast (choke).

The expensive ringer tester is from sencore equipment. Sencore LC102 and LC103C besides checking capacitor it also have the capability to check all kind of winding. Whether it is a low voltage transformer, high voltage transformer, current transformer, pulse transformer, electric transformer, custom transformer this equipment will be able to check and test it.

If you do not wish to invest on this tester you may use a light bulb to check it. Remove one of the primary winding pin and connect a 60 watt light bulb. One end to the circuit while the other to the transformer pin. If the bulb light and didn't goes off suspect a shorted winding and if the light goes off, the winding is ok.

Transformer repair is not easy and it require a good skill to do it. Most of the transformer repairer preferred to rewind bigger winding such as fan, car alternator and starter. Switch mode power transformer is a little bit difficult to rewind because of the small size and low price.

GoPro HD Hero Cameras Review

History of GoPro Hero cameras

The GoPro series of helmet cameras came out after the originators of this market segment, the Vio POV cameras were being used for extreme sports fanatics. While the Vio was considered a premium camera at a premium price catering to a small niche market. GoPro decided to go the other way and produce a quality camera at a much more affordable price while trimming back some of the higher end features. That turned out to be a good move for GoPro as they have far surpassed the Vio's in terms of sales and helped bring helmet cameras to the masses.

The latest iteration of the popular GoPro Hero series is the GoPro HD Helmet Hero. The outer shell is similar to the previous version, albeit slightly thicker but still comprises of a camera that sits in a waterproof and super tough clear plastic shell.

The major changes are all in the guts of the machine. As per it's nomenclature the GoPro HD Helmet Hero is a HD capable video camera that can shoot 5mp stills. Unlike the previous Gopros that filmed at standard resolution the new GoPro HD's all can shoot at a multitude of HD resolutions and speeds.

New Gopro HD Features
The GoPro HD Helmet Hero features three new HD recording resolutions: 1080p (1980 x 1080), 960p (1280 x 960) and 720p (1280 x 720). At 1080p and 960p resolution video is captured at 30 fps, while at its lowest 720p resolution video can be captured at 60 fps for play back of video in smooth slow motion to easier make out high speed motion so often desired in action sports videos. Even the lowest resolution is as high as the best video captured by many other brands. Videos are encoded using the popular and high quality H.264 video compression format and stored on the standard SDHC memory cards good for up to 32gb of video data. The video quality is so good you can see the individual blades of grass on each side of the trail when riding at full speed.

The new GoPro HD cameras retains the previous versions' popular wide angle 170 degree lens, small size, waterproof case, 5 mega pixel still photo capabilities while upgrading many of the older components under the hood.

Digital SLR Camera Reviews - Best Picks

A digital single lens reflex camera is an incredibly versatile and flexible piece of photographic equipment that can help you take the best photos of your life. There are several brands to choose from today that all have interchangeable lenses, allowing you to choose from a wide variety of shots from wide angle and closeups to telephoto images.

But before you decide that a digital single lens reflex camera is just what you need, first consider how you plan on using it. If you mainly like to take snapshots of your family and friends and maybe some special events like weddings and anniversaries, you probably don't really need a camera as sophisticated and complicated as a digital SLR. In fact, a compact digital camera with a fixed lens will probably do the job just fine. So you can save yourself the added expense and steeper learning curve associated with dSLRs.

But on the other hand, if you are a photography hobbyist or perhaps you plan on increasing your photography skills in the near future, then a digital SLR camera will probably fit your needs well. Or perhaps you need a camera that can do double duty as both a simple fully automated point and shoot camera and a more sophisticated manual camera too, as more than one person with different skill levels will be using it. Happily, a digital SLR can fit the bill here too as most of them also have completely automated settings that can be used by almost anyone.

But if you decide that a digital SLR will work for you, which camera is best for you? Most likely you will need to do some research to find out what models are available in your price range and then read some digital SLR camera reviews online to learn more about which models are the best in that price range.

But from reading many of the online digital slr camera reviews by both independent reviewers and consumers, we have found two cameras that we can highly recommend based on their popularity in these unbiased reviews. For beginners, the Pentax ist DX is often mentioned as an extremely easy camera to learn and use and with a 18-55mm zoom lens and costs just under $1,000. For more advanced users that require even more features and capabilities, the Nikon D70s is well reported on by almost all reviewers that we saw, and with a 18-70mm lens, it costs around $1200. Of course, both of these cameras can be bought for less if you really make a good search for them online.

Regardless of which digital single lens reflex camera that you choose, they will all bring a higher level of photographic capability and sophistication to any photo that you take. If you follow the guidelines and tips provided above it can help you decide whether or not a digital SLR will fit your needs and help you decide also on which one will work best for you.

How To Pick A Good Digital Camera To Buy

There are as many varieties of digital cameras as there are individual interests. There are lots of different sizes and brands as well. Even the worst amateur can take wonderful photos with the digital camera. Camera makers have made them very easy to use.

Digital cameras are now the norm with those that own cameras, although some still use film. Most have converted to digital format. Digital cameras can be found in devices that we use daily such as smart phones and laptops and now the iPad has a digital camera device.

Even though the digital camera that comes with these devices is an add on, the quality of the images still come out fairly well. Another cool feature of digital cameras, be it attached or not is most of them can be used as video recorders and capture video clips. The old brands like Canon, Kodak and Olympus are a few of the camera makers that now produce great quality digital cameras. My favorite being Nikon. Casio, Sony and Panasonic have there own brands as well.

Most of the cameras have the same basic features. They are all point and shot devices but some may have other features the catch your attention. The camera megapixels is one feature to look for. The MP's measure the quality. A pixel is a dot that makes up the picture. If you can, go with a camera with a MP of 5 or higher for a better quality image. Also, when you have more MP's, you can enlarge the image without sacrificing the image quality. Anything less then 5 megapixels decreases the quality of your image.

The downside of using a camera with a big megapixel number is, they consume a lot of memory.

When looking for a digital camera, also consider your zoom feature. The 2 most common zoom features are optical and digital. Many offer both features.

The kind of camera that you purchase will depend on what you want to get out of your photography. Many just want a day to day camera that can be used to capture those special moments and have fun with friends or share photos on their Facebook page. You can find a really great camera for less than $100 that will give you a great deal of flexibility and provide you with all of what you need to take cool photos whenever you get ready.

When shopping for your camera be sure to read the camera reviews and ask a lot of questions if you go into your local camera store. Don't let the sales person sell you something that you don't want nor need. There are a lot of cameras on the market and many are the same the difference being the camera maker name.

Home Security - High Resolution Wide Angle Security Camera Review

You probably already know what a big deal home security is. You can't watch television or read a newspaper without seeing a story about a home invasion or a burglary. And then there's the ads for home security companies. They are out there by the boatload.

And with one out of six homes on an annual basis victimized by burglars it is no wonder. Homeowners do not do a good job of protecting their homes. As a matter of fact they spend more money on security for their car than they do on their home. Go figure!

There are plenty of things you can do for free to beef up your security. Put a sign in your front yard warning of a vicious guard dog or NRA membership. You can start and join one of the most effective programs for home security there is: a neighborhood watch program. You can eliminate hiding places by lower-level doors and windows.

Try locking all your doors and windows. Over 60 percent of all home burglaries happen through unsecured doors and windows according to police statistics. All these things are free and will go a long ways towards improving your security.

Police officials will tell you that one of the best things you can do is to get a security camera. When a burglar is "casing" a neighborhood and sees a security camera on a home he decides to pick somebody else. Burglars may not be very smart, but they're not dumb either. They don't want to get caught.

One of the very best is a High Resolution Wide Angle Home Security Camera. It is a waterproof camera that has 56 infrared LEDs that allow you to see up to 150 feet away in complete darkness. It has 540 TV lines of resolution for great picture quality and a 9 to 22 mm auto Iris vari-focal wide angle lens that broadens your viewing area to twice that of normal.

It is one of the best quality cameras there is. When are you getting one?

Review of Samsung Galaxy S Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S Plus is fairly identical to its original predecessor, Galaxy S, except for a different chipset, which comprises a faster 1.4 Ghz processor. Samsung's modified Hummingbird chipset has been ousted for the Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon. It's a quicker version of the MSM8255 chipset which is found in several android phones. The 1.4 Ghz clock speed is almost 40 per cent faster.

Key features:

Tri-band 3G and quad-band GSM support
5.76 mbps HSUPA and 14.4 mbps HSDPA support
4 inch 16m color super AMOLED touch screen of 480 x 800 pixels.
A super slim form factor at 9.9 mm
Android operating system having TouchWiz 3.0 user interface customization.
Adreno 205 GPU, 1.4 Ghz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm MSM8255T chipset
8 GB internal storage and a micro SD slot, expandable up o 32 GB
512 MB RAM
720 pixel HD video capture at 30 fps
5 mp auto focus camera with smile, blink and face detection
Digital compass; GPS having A-GPS connectivity
Micro USB port (for charging) and stereo Bluetooth 3.0
3.5 mm standard audio jack
FM radio
Superb audio quality
Proximity sensor and accelerometer
1,650 mAh lithium ion battery
Preinstalled file manager and document editor
Complete Flash support for web browsers
Secondary video call camera

The Samsung Galaxy S Plus certainly makes sense for the buyer who doesn't want to spend over the head on the latest technology. The company is probably justified not to make any big noise about it. Though the phone would not come in the category of cheap smartphones, it is undeniably slated to be a hit with the buyers.

The Galaxy S Plus has all the connectivity issues covered. It comprises quad-band EDGE/GSM/SPRS, besides the tri-band HSPA with an upload rate of 5.76 mbps and a download rate of up to 14.4 mbps. This is twice as fast as the HSDPA speed of any of its predecessors.

The 8GB storage space of the phone is another scoring point. Peers of the Galaxy S Plus severely lacks in this regard. Moreover, the handset supports micro SD cards up to 32 GB. The slot for the micro SD card is located under the battery cover. The phone also comprises 2 GB of ROM and 1.5 GB space to install applications. The phone's 3.5 mm audio jack completes its connectivity tally. You need not search for compatible headphones and can plug in your favorite headphone to listen to music.

Users intending to upgrade themselves from the earlier Galaxy S are unlikely to consider buying the Galaxy S Plus. It can be called as a more affordable alternative to the current flagship i.e. Galaxy S II. The phone is certainly all set to capture the eye of the connoisseur with kits features which is available at a really competitive price. What is also likely to work for the phone is its eye-catching looks, coupled with a very attractive form factor.

What is a Fish Surfboard?

Unless you're in the surfing world, you probably don't know what a fish surfboard is or what the history is behind them. Fish surfboards have been around since the 1960's, and haven't become bygone boards by any means. Some of the basic styling for these boards has changed over the past 40 years, but the fish is still used for the same kind of rides, and is a notoriously fun board for the intermediate or expert surfer.

The retro fish board you may see out there on the water is a throwback to the board that came out in the early 1960's and 1970's. This popular style is still around for good reason! The fish boards of the 60's were originally designed to be kneeboards as well as surfboards. It gained reknown quickly, and as the use of the fish surfboard spread by word of mouth, it became the surfboard of the 70's. The fish boards have retained their popularity to this day, because they are light to carry around, they zip through small to medium waves quickly, and are all around fun boards.

One aspect of the fish board which has not changed much since they were created is the fish-like shape, with a sharp nose and swallow tail. These boards are usually a little shorter and wider than fiberglass or epoxy shortboards, and like any shortboard they are really made for surfers with an intermediate to advanced skill level and beginners should not try to learn how to surf with a fish board. With their shortened design, these boards have a tendency to ride flat on the wave and don't make it easy to surf vertically. That makes the fish surfboard a board for more advanced surfers who have the basics of surfing mastered.

Fish surfboards are about 5 1/2 feet in length, and 18.5 inches wide with slight variations in size, depending on the maker and how you want to use the board. The retro fish boards of the 60's had two keel fins (skegs), while contemporary fish boards have three skegs. The simple design of the fish board provides awesome drive and lift, which generates large amounts of speed in a short time. So you can zip around those small or even medium-sized waves with fast response and maneuverability on a fish board. Their short length and width is what gives them their maneuverability, so if you have the skills, a fish surfboard is a great board to have in your quiver.

If you are an intermediate to advanced surfer looking for a new boarding challenge, then getting a fish board to take out on the waves may be just for you. These boards have been popular since the 60's because their unique, short fish-like design gives you great speed and maneuverability on those smaller and medium-sized waves. Though not designed for beginners, the fish board is a great board for a surfing newbie to work up to, because they are so much fun. Of all of the surfboards out there to choose from, the fish surfboard is a classic choice for fun in the sun!

Car Audio Capacitors - Why You Can't Do Without Them

I've heard the question asked many times before, 'Do I really need a capacitor?' Before answering that question I ask, 'Do you have a high powered system?' 'Does it require sudden power bursts?' 'Is your amplifier being robbed of power?' If the answers to my questions are yes, make every effort to connect a capacitor to your car audio system.

A capacitor is a bit similar to your car battery; it stores electrical energy. But unlike a battery it doesn't produce its own power, it simply stores it. A car audio capacitor will help you get the most from your amplifier. It will store power for release on demand, delivering it to your amplifier just when it's needed.

Your car amplifier requires a lot of power to play loud music, especially when there's lots of heavy bass. Without a capacitor your amplifier will be robbed of power by parts like your lights, engine, and air conditioner.

So what happens when your car audio amplifier doesn't receive enough power?

A common occurrence is dimming lights. In such a situation the light will follow the beat of the music. The light will dim each time a heavy bass note sounds. If you were to turn off the lights, your car stereo system would suddenly sound louder and the music would be cleaner.

Your amplifier is simply trying to use more energy than the electrical system can supply. If a capacitor had been present there would have been enough energy to power your amp. That electrical energy would have already been stored.

When you want to reduce headlight dimming, improve bass response, and increase the power of your amp, a stiffening capacitor is a must. Equipped with capacitor and an adequate power supply, your system will get every bit of current it needs. Voltage drops will be a thing of the past.

With so many brands available online, it's easy to find a capacitor that meets your needs. You can choose from popular brands like Phoenix-Digital, Blitz-Audio, Kole-Audio, Pyramid, SoundStorm, Lanzar, Power-Acoustik, Pyle, Legacy, Nitro-BMW, SPL, and Volfenhag. No longer will your car amplifier be hungry for power.

A Review of Banana Republic Clothing

There's no denying that fashion plays a huge role in modern society. It doesn't matter where you live, the current trends and styles are sure to be in your community. You simply can't escape them. You may not conform to wearing them, but they'll still be beamed into your home right through your TV set. Banana Republic clothing is a great example of what I mean. Our society gets absolutely exercised over whatever is the latest and coolest trend. We love to look nice, and many of us will pay a pretty penny to do so. It's just in our nature.

Banana Republic clothing is a division of Gap Inc. in case you didn't realize it. I was out shopping for jeans in the Gap this weekend or a lovely young lady came to help me out. She spoke of Banana Republic, which baffled me. Was she really talking up a competitor? No, not quite. They're actually resides a working relationship between the Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are in cahoots. They are different price ranges for different shopping audiences by extension they appeal to everyone across the economic stratus. It's a pretty smart way to do business I think. That's probably why they've been in business for so many years.

I first noticed Banana Republic clothing when I was getting ready to do a photo shoot. I needed some sharp looking clothes that look really good in front of the camera. The photographer mentioned Banana Republic to so I went over and took a look. I was a bit surprised, but I really liked what I saw. If you're going for a kind of up-beat, high fashion look in a modern world, Banana Republic clothing is just the ticket. Whether many of us males will be honest enough to admit it or not, we also liked to look fashionable. There's no doubt about it, that the ladies love guys that dress well. Women go out of their way to look nice, why would they want a PC with a slap. It's pretty universal actually. They will tell you that a shmo is a tuxedo looks a lot nicer than a shmo in a torn pair of jeans and a dirty T-shirt.

My wife also loves Banana Republic clothing. It offers her a nice business-sheik look for her profession. I have no idea what that means, but that's what she told me. It can get a bit pricey for some items, but considering the costs at some of the other clothing stores that she frequents, I'd say it's really not so bad after all.

You can easily see for yourself by going for a quick browse through Nordstrom's or Guess. Looking nice nowadays can be a costly endeavor. It really doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, you may find a style right for you in Banana Republic. They cater quite nicely to both sides of the gender stew. The clothing is suited for those in a business atmosphere, or those who are interested in looking chic for a night out on the town. Whatever your style, you'll likely find something exciting in Banana Republic.

HDTV Reviews - Toshiba Vs Sony Brands

If you have finally saved up enough money for a new large screen HDTV, you probably want to make sure you get the most value for your money. If you are like many, you may have it narrowed down to Toshiba or Sony for your next HDTV. Below you will find out about the pros and cons of each company and get our recommendation.

Sony HDTV Pros and Cons

Pros of cons of Sony televisions include the following.

Warmer Picture - If you like your colors warm, the Sony is probably going to do a better job. This is really a personal preference, though.
Quality - Many Sony HDTVs cost a little more, but this is because of the slightly higher quality of components used in the televisions.
Higher Price - With the higher quality, you're going to have a higher price. This will turn some people away, but if you want the best you're going to have to pay for it.
Toshiba HDTV Pros and Cons

Pros of cons of Toshiba televisions include the following.

Custom Settings - There is quite a bit to tweak on most Toshiba HDTVs. If you like to tweak settings to get the absolute best picture, you want to consider Toshiba.
Cooler Picture - Most people won't notice this difference, but Toshiba HDTVs tend to offer a lighter, cooler picture.
Lower Price / Quality - You will generally be able to get a Toshiba HDTV for a cheaper price, but you are going to get lower quality components, which means the television may not last as long.
Toshiba vs Sony HDTV: The Winner?

The final decision is going to be yours, of course, but for the money, the Sony is going to give you better quality and overall value for your money. If you want to save money, however, there are many great Toshiba HDTVs in all sorts of sizes. The one thing you want to make sure you do is compare similar televisions. For example, a 1080p Toshiba is going to look better than a Sony at 720p resolution. You want to keep this in mind when you compare televisions. When you compare televisions with the same specifications, you are going to find that the Sony is a bit more money. For many people, however, the extra money for Sony quality is worth it, especially if you want to keep the television around for a long time.

Low Cost Electronics - Digital Camera Reviews

It has been more than 30 years since the seed for the first digital camera was laid by sputnik spacecraft, which necessitated the need for digital camera to transmit images as and when it was taken. It has been an eventful journey to this day when we are venturing into the field of 3D digital photography. Starting from the models which are too huge to even hang on one's neck, we now have models that are so compact that they can fit into our pockets with great ease. But with this exponential growth, came the dilemma of choosing the best digital camera. That is when the level of photography expertise came into play.

Canon, Kodak, Sony, Olympus and Nikon are some of the leaders in the digital camera business. All these top brands always concentrate on just a few key features that define good digital photograph. Any new model addresses one or more of these features and enhances them.

From novice to professional photographers, megapixel count always holds a sway. But, that is one common mistake we blindly make. Beyond 7 megapixels, it does not in any way increase the clarity of the picture for higher pixels. The difference can only be felt if we are going to take large prints, which will yield different results for different resolutions.

The latest arrival on the digital scene is Leica X1 which was released on December 18th. This German model is a welcome break for the field because it marks a significant period of compact cameras with large sensors. Equipped with 12.2 MP on a CMOS APS-C sensor which offers an angle of view comparable to 35 mm lens, it is highly recommended for professional photographers interested in large prints.

The digital photography world is polarized into the ordinary and expert photographers. For an ordinary user, not used to the technical terms of photography, single-lens reflex camera is an obfuscation. The more the manual features are, the greater are the chances of flexibility offered for the photographers. Hence the DSLR and SLR camera have plenty of manual functions to adjust every feature such as aperture, ISO, exposure settings and many more. Canon digital cameras are into the noble task of blurring the line between professional and novice users.

The Canon Powershot series is preferred by all categories of photography enthusiasts. The new arrival in the Powershot family, Powershot G11 is indeed promising with its increased manual mode, high zoom range and sturdy build. Released almost around the same time, Canon Powershot A1100 IS caters to the requirements of cost-conscious photographers and beginners. However it never fails the user expectations. It has the face recognition and scene recognition features too.

Affordability may not be the first thing in the minds of true photography buffs. But, if comparable features are provided then, it is natural that the more affordable camera will be picked. This is what is tapped by the latest Pentax-k7 which is a greatly affordable DSLR camera which poses serious threat to Nikon and Canon in the DSLR scene. Compared to bulky DSLRs like Nikon D300 and Olympus E-3, the pentax-k7 is a small, compact and light DSLR in the market.

Another exciting feature is, it demonstrates that if we can watch HD prints then we can shoot HD prints as well. Yes! The sensor offers live view as well as the ability to capture HD video.

The latest digital camera with lots of enhancements does not mean the best of features. It is a need-driven market where the best camera for our need should be opted for. If natural scenery brings an enthusing feeling, then a digital camera with minimum 6x zoom is preferred. So, a Canon Powershot is more desirable than a Canon IXUS, in spite of the latter being the most compact of the two because Powershot serves our purpose better in this case. Ask yourself a set of questions on what is actually the requirement and then shortlist the cameras based on the requirements and budget constraints. Make sure to get the latest and the best. Click away with joy!

HTC HD2 Review - Impressive 5 Mega-Pixel Camera

Finally, something very exciting in the market of the mobile phones. HTC HD2 rocks with the combination of capacitive multi touch display on a Windows Mobile device as many thought that it is not possible. HD2 has easily one of the best touch screen displays among the mobile phones available in the market with its huge 4.3 inches screen size. Apart from that, fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a robust GPU, loads of RAM make the handset super fast and amazingly attractive. The European users can avail this device is it was released on November 2009 and the response is also encouraging.

Let's accumulate the hot features of HTC HD2. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor that provides speed of 1024MHz. The network support is good as the users can access quad band GSM support of 850/900/1800/1900 along with the dual band UMTS of 900/2100 with HSDPA and HSUPA. Apart from that, the handset is inclusive of A GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0, WiFi b & g, an accelerometer, proximity sensor, FM radio, and a digital compass. Music lovers can enjoy playing their favorite tunes by plugging in a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The memory option of the mobile phone is quite good. It comes with 448 MB RAM out of which 207 MB is accessible and 512 MB ROM out of which 201 MB accessible. This much of memory support is definitely not sufficient and hence HD2 includes a microSD card slot that can be expanded up to 32 GB.

The camera is definitely a prominent feature of HD2 by HTC. It boasts a 5 mega pixel camera that includes dual LED flash, auto focus, geo tagging and a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The users can record videos with the camera at VGA @ 30fps. The presence of Facebook and Twitter application ensures that the users can click excellent images and upload them directly in their favorite social network.

Last but not the least, let's focus on the most prominent highlight of HTC HD2, which is the display. It boasts a huge touch screen of 4.3 inches as mentioned above and the type of the display is TFT capacitive. The display boasts 65,000 colours and 480 x 800 pixels resolution. Some of the major highlights of the display include accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate, proximity sensor for UI auto turn off, pick- to- mute and multi touch input method.

Spy Camera Software

There are two types of spy camera software that are completely different from each other. Firstly, it is the software needed to run spy cameras, and secondly, it is certain software programs available to the public that eliminate the need for a private investigator.

The software needed to operate a spy cam comes with the package and rarely creates any problems, so that type of spy camera software is relatively simple. Other types of spy software programs have a totally different purpose. The software in most cases enables the user to locate almost any person, or any information easily through online databases. It gives users access to police records, FBI files, driving records, and even unlisted phone numbers.

There are other programs that literally monitor and save anything that happens on a computer. For example, such a program is the ideal solution for people who suspect that their spouse is chatting with someone online, or that their children have access to Internet pornography.

There is another category of software called spyware. People who get pop-ups from different sites with absolutely no reason at all that are not related at all to the website that they are visiting at the moment, there is a good chance they have spyware on their computer. This may seem alarming, but there is no need to panic, since several programs are available to remove such unwanted ads from popping up.

Whether people want detective related or computer activity related spy software they should know that there is a huge variety of such programs available. It is a good idea to read user review before purchasing spy camera software to insure that the product works properly.

3 Skypephone S2 Review

Five years ago, a software called Skype made waves in the online community. The aim of Skype is to allow users to make telephone calls over the Internet. This was patronized by a lot of individuals around the world, because calls to other Skype users will be free.

However, calls to other mobile phones or landlines will be billed with a minimal charge. Because of the popularity of the software, Skype has decided to come up with its very own mobile phone.

The brand name is '3' and the mobile phone is called Skypephone. This was first released in October of the year 2007.

What is Up with the 3 Skypephone S2?

Three is the mobile phone operator and Skypephone is the mobile phone unit and the manufacturer is Amoi. When you put all these together, you will have the 3 Skypephone S2 mobile phone.

Exactly one year after the Skypephone was first released, now comes the newer and hopefully better version of the Skypephone.

This is a 3G mobile phone which has already been released and sold in Austrialia, Austria, UK, Italy, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark. The phone is named so because its main function is to handle Skype calls. Depending on the mobile phone deal that you have, you are also entitled to free Skype-to-Skype calls.

Before delving deeper into the individual benefits of 3 Skypephone S2, here are the features included in the phone:

- 2" 176x220 pixel display screen
- 2-Megapixel camera
- 16 MB internal memory
- Expandable 1GB memory
- Bluetooth, EDR and USB connectivity options are available
- Streaming audio and video supported

Mobile Phone Deals: Pros and Cons of Getting the 3 Skypephone S2

Now that you have an idea about the different features include in the 3 Skypephone S2 mobile phone, what are the pros and cons of using this specialized type of phone?

Based on the editorial and user reviews, the 3 Skypephone S2 offers a low-quality battery life. This is definitely a no-no for those who are always on the go.

Those who have long been loyal fans of Skype will not be able to use the Skype Video Calling. In the process of using the 3 Skypephone S2, you will find that the unit gets hot after several minutes of use. However, this can be prevented when you use the handsfree handset.

Generally, though, when you compare the 3 Skypephone S2 with its predecessor, there has been a major overhaul. When it comes to the shape and size, the 3 Skypephone S2 is a general improvement over the first version of the Skpephone.

All in all, the pros of using the 3 Skypephone S2 are that it has a user-friendly Skype feature. It also provides the user with an excellent Skype experience.

The only downside is that the camera could have a better resolution - and the video recording feature can be improved. Compact, user-friendly and a specialized mobile device are all the benefits that you can get to have with the 3 Skypephone S2 mobile phones.

The SVP Digital Camera Review

With the age of digital imaging, nearly every (shallow water) diver can be involved with underwater photography. This review is of a true beginner camera outfit. The Chinese made, SVP Acqua digital outfit includes the camera system and waterproof case for under $100. There are obvious limitations and we'll cover them in this review.

Don't expect professional results with this camera, but you'll be surprisingly pleased with the versatility this little compact outfit provides. With all the features you'd expect to find in popular brand 'point and shoot' cameras, this compact system will easily fit into your BCD pocket. The specifications are listed after our review comments. Since the factory marketing brochure supplied these, we cannot confirm or dispute them.

First of all, before using this camera... view the enclosed DVD instruction manual provided with the camera. There are many features and settings that you'll need to know before you get out on the water to use your camera system. We've used many different brands and all seem to have some logical settings and some not-so-logical procedures. Like most 'point and shoot' cameras, there is a delay between pushing on the shutter and having the actual shutter operation. After you become familiar with the operation of the camera and the features you're ready for the underwater part.

Like any housing, you need to keep the housing clean and free from sand or grit that could create a leak. Since the main seal is not really an o'ring, I was very careful to clean the surfaces with a cotton tip (Qtip) and apply some o'ring grease to the surface as well as a thin film on the seal itself. The seal is sort of a wedge shape, so it should provide a good positive pressure seal. The clean part is more for all the little control buttons that allow you to change settings of the camera underwater. We'll get into the best settings we found when using the camera underwater.

When they say the housing is good to 15 meters or around 33 feet, they are not lying. Not that we were trying to flood the housing or anything, but at 60 feet the camera is not operational because the pressure is squeezing the controls and shuts the camera off. At 40 feet, you might get the camera to work, but don't count on changing the settings. At 35 feet the camera seems to work fine with all the features and settings operational. For many divers, this will be too limiting because most of your dives will be deeper than 35 feet. However, keep in mind that the red/yellow/orange end of the spectrum is filtered out beyond this depth too.

The camera and housing combination are well matched and easy to operate. With the clear plastic housing, you can easily see the settings on the camera. Like most digital displays certain angles are more difficult to see, but with the proper shading and angle everything is visible on the 2 inch screen. Even though you can change the lens focal length from wide angle to zoom, we kept the setting on wide angle for the dives during the whole process because of the water. Keep this in mind for all underwater photography; stay close to your subject and use the widest angle possible for better results.

For the still shots, the camera was set for the strobe to fire with each shot. This uses up your batteries faster, but if the subject is closer than 8 feet, you'll have better imaging and color. The best results were our macro shots where we set the camera for 'close-up' and used the flash. When using the movie mode, you'll be impressed with the sharpness of the images, but don't expect high quality audio. The housing must absorb a lot of the sound as much of the underwater audio is muted. More than likely, you'll edit with some musical background anyway.

The color balance was a little off. We did change the settings according to the instructions and the results were that the color balance was a little on the blue side for topside shots. This was not an issue for the underwater shots as the greenish tint of the water was eliminated. Most of the color balance issues can be handled in the editing phase.

The claim of being 12.0 mega pixels is a little deceiving because this is the 'hardware interpolation' not the 'image resolution' which is 5.0 mega pixels. All in all, we were not disappointed in the quality results of the better pictures. However, some of the shots showed camera shake even with the built in flash. This means that the shutter does adjust for the amount of light, so it's important to squeeze the cameral and hold it as still as possible.

We used an 8 GB SD card because we expected to take a lot of video and had ample memory space for two dives. We didn't use the provided USB cable because we use a card reader to our laptop and then back up the memory to a portable hard drive. The power source uses two triple A Alkaline Batteries, so it's not a problem having new batteries for each dive. We didn't use the 'voice recorder' feature, but from our underwater video experience, it would not be recommended inside the underwater housing.

Now for the bottom line advice on this gear: If you plan to take your underwater imaging seriously, save your money for a more comprehensive system. This could be the perfect outfit for a sport diver that wants to share their diving experience with their friends and family. For less than $100 (prices range from $70-100), not including your SD Memory card or batteries, it is a value. The SVP cameras are available at some dive shops and are directly marketed from several importers online. The next "point and shoot" underwater outfits, without an external strobe, will most likely cost over $500. So, if you are going on vacation and thinking about having your own digital camera outfit for shallow water, this is the answer. Of course, for around $35 at most diving centers you could rent a camera with everything included. Sometimes the choice is not easy, but you can know a lot more from someone who has tested the SVP out. It is a great still and video camera outfit for around the water and underwater to about 35 feet.

LG Neon GT 365 Review - Price and User Review

LG Neon GT365 - Smartphone review Price and features Props and Cons

Overall the LG Neon is a good value. It is easy to use and will take only two minutes to set-up and start. The sliding keyboard is glorious for better SMS-ing but the keys could be a bit bigger, in my judgment. The USB connection wire is offered as an additional accessory and it'll set you back $30 to $40. The sole touch-sensitive screen feature available is the numeric telephone dialing screen which is expediently accessible from the main interface. Reading and sending email is kind of straightforward if you have an ATT, AOL, Yahoo! Or Windows Live account. The Yellow Pages application might be helpful but I also commend downloading the Google Maps for cell telephones. The Music folder contains limited trial subscription to Music ID and Make UR Tones applications. PAC-MAN and Bubble Bash.

The Bluetooth wireless connectivity supports A2DP technology which can stream audio in stereo to the headset. The threaded messaging displays full talks and not just fragmented replies, while the New Message button is expediently found on the keyboard. I am able to get used to the LG Neon GT365 and for my particular wishes this is a good phone. I am doing assume the voice-dialing should be the standard feature and the USB wire should be included. While recognizing that, I'd suggest this telephone for those that need simplicity and loyalty for e-communication and quality voice calls

LG Neon GT365

Pros:
- cute size and sturdy design.
- Sliding full keyboard.
- Bluetooth
- MicroSD slot.
- Threaded messaging*.
- Low Cost

Cons:
- USB cable costs extra.
- No voice-dial feature.

Features:
- 2.4 in LCD screen
- touch sensitive screen telephone dialing.
- Easy access to Instant Messaging ( IM ) like aim, Yahoo! Or Windows Live.
- easy access to email such as AT&T, AOL, Yahoo! And Windows Live.

Reviews of Cameras for 2011 and 2012: Doing Your Research Will Help You Find the Best Camera for You

What camera should you buy? Some questions and answers to help you decide.

There are trillions of camera reviews coming at you from hundreds of photography web sites and magazines; it's enough to intimidate any consumers in today's camera market. Even professional photographers like me can get lost in this reading material.

Reviewing cameras in 2011, 2012: Which model camera is Best?

What camera should you buy? What brand camera should you go with? How much should be budgeted? Do I buy a new camera or will used equipment work out fine? Will I regret what camera I purchase six months from now or 2 years from now and on and on? Lots of questions to ask.

Ask some Pros, friends and family what camera they enjoy using.

At every wedding I photographed it seemed like someone would come up and start talking photography. I enjoy people so, as long it didn't keep me from the job at hand I was always happy to talk shop for a while. Usually the conversation would end up being one of these topics, but many times it ended with a key question.

What cameras do I (the pro) shoot with?

Did I know how to load or rewind film their consumer camera brand x, y, or z?

Could I teach them how to use their camera?

Did I know how to replace the their camera's batteries or could I show them how to "un-jam" their old, tired, warn out, needed replacing years ago camera?

I always avoided touching other peoples camera's if it was something more than loading film.

What camera should they buy next?

The hardest questions where always the ones from people asking which camera I'd recommend they purchase next. There are just too many variables to a question like this and certainly not something I could get into while working a wedding reception. Hell, I have the cake cutting shoot coming up in 5 minutes.

How to make buying your next camera easier: some advice from a pro.

Here are a few steps and thoughts to get you headed in the right direction.

Start putting money aside from paychecks and make a rough budget for your camera.
Decide what type of camera you will need? Will it be a point and shoot pocket camera or something more advanced, a higher end (more quality) consumer camera, semi-pro or even some pro level camera.

Plan on doing some research but be smart about it, visit with friends and start there. See what they are using. Ask them what features they like and ask them how it feels in their hands.

Ask if they think the buttons are in the right place, is it something they are happy with or did they wish they bought something else. Ask them to let you hold it and maybe even fire off a few clicks. Look at the images the cameras produced.

Buy some reading material, join a photography forum, research online.

You can purchase some camera magazines and do searches on the web like "best Nikon Cameras", visit Amazon and see what cameras sell the most there and read the feedbacks of their customers. This will also show you the range of prices with the various cameras.

If buying used is considered, a trip to ebay.com might be the ticket. Just be sure to know the seller (follow your gut) and trust that what they are saying is the truth about what they are selling. Buyer beware.

Their feedback rating should help you in this department. I have purchased lots of photography gear off eBay with great savings but I suggest you avoid sellers with low or no positive feedback.

Send questions to the seller about how much use the piece has had? Ask about any blemishes and if the lenses are clean and free of scratches. I like to buy cameras that had protective lenses on the various lenses for obvious reasons.

When it comes to cameras: information is everywhere.

There are sorts of places to research and buy cameras, newspapers, eBay, craigslist, local camera shops, amazon and on and on but there is only one person who can figure out what camera you should buy, and that my friend is you.

If you want to make an educated decision you will need to do your research. Build your budget while you do all this and you might end up with something a little better for less money even. Mostly. Pick up the camera before you decide (If possible) as some cameras just don't feel right.

If you love photography I suggest you buy the best your money can afford without buying more than you need. Deciding what it is you want to photograph should help you big time with your decision.

GoPro HD Hero2 Camera Review

Do you like extreme sports? Have you always wanted to be able to record them in high-definition but found traditional cameras bulky and inoperable while performing them? If this is case, you're in luck because a company out of Half Boon Bay, California called GoPro has been working on a new line of wearable and mountable cameras called the GoPro HD Hero2, and they all shoot in 1080p high-definition!

The GoPro HD Hero2 is the most compact and advanced sports action camera on the market. It incorporates big technology in a small body. The main users of the camera are sport athletes that race cars, surf, kayak, skate, snowboard, ski, mountain bike, and more. Even general consumers enjoy the limitless mountable capabilities of the small camera; videos on YouTube show footage of the camera mounted even to a dog!

The GoPro HD Hero2 was released November 30, 2011. The main upgrades you need to know is that GoPro has developed a lens that contains two times sharper professional glass. This is great news because that means the image quality will be sharper in your recordings. In addition to new photo capabilities, the camera system enables the camera to shoot 11 megapixel pictures! The previous GoPro HD Hero original was only capable of 5 megapixel photos. Furthermore, the GoPro HD Hero camera has an easy to use 10 photo per second burst mode. This makes it easy to capture fast moving sequences. Lastly, wi-fi capability and a new time-lapse setting make this camera a big upgrade from the GoPro HD Hero original. The GoPro HD Hero2 comes with a polycarbonate waterproof, bombproof, and shockproof water housing that enables you take it with you to submerge the camera underwater. The camera also comes with one lithium ion battery. Charger and all necessary cables are included.

Pros

Camera lens incorporates 2X Sharper Lens enhancing image quality

• 10 Photo per second burst allows users to capture fast moving sequences easily

• Highest quality 1080p footage on the market for wearable consumer sport cameras

• Wi-Fi capabilities to control up to control 50 GoPro cameras at once

• New LCD interface makes this cameras even more user friendly

Cons

• Since the camera still shoots in 1080p. it is not much of an upgrade from the previous GoPro HD Hero Original

• The LCD interface although much more user friendly, requires button pushing

• The camera does not have a LCD viewfinder so it may be hard to see what is in your field of view. However, an accessory called the LCD Bacpac is available

• Memory card not included

In conclusion, if you want the best wearable point of view action camera on the market in terms of high-definition video quality, usability, high ease of use, and countability, then the GoPro HD Hero2 is for you. Not only does it incorporate the most advanced technology in the wearable camera consumer market but it is also priced the best. From Disney to the Discovery channel, the movie industry is learning that GoPro cameras are capable of capturing amazing footage that previously was thought impossible. Now is your chance to document your most amazing experiences in high-definition, and its all in the power of the GoPro HD Hero2 camera. Read a GoPro camera review for pictures, video footage, and a comparison chart of cameras.

Sanyo Digital Camera Reviews

Sanyo digital camera reviews for the Xacti S70 and the Xacti DMX CG65 look appealing. However, the cameras do not have enough user reviews to tell whether the cameras are worth the time or money. The S70 has a slick design with 7.0 megapixels with three times optical zoom. It has a two and a half inch viewing screen and face recognition technology. The camera has a automatic focus feature that reacts quickly making picture taking easy. The camera boasts about the fact that one set of alkaline batteries can take two hundred and fifty images.

The Sanyo digital camera reviews for the DMX CG65 are just as impressive, but once again, the camera has no user reviews so you judge the performance of the camera. This camera has 6.0 megapixels with five times optical zoom. The camera does use all the newest technology to make picture taking easy. The digital cameras do sound very intriguing, but without any user reviews, one will not know if the camera is all it says it is. You would need to check warranties and refund policies before buying any one of these digital cameras unless you judge by what the manufacturer has to say.

The Sanyo digital camera reviews are always good to use for doing comparisons of different makes and models. The reviews are very helpful when you are thinking about buying any digital camera. If you cannot find any reviews, you can always check the manufacturer's reviews, but this will not give you any kind of idea as to how easy the camera is to use or if there are any problems. New cameras do not have reviews when they first come out, but you can still judge by the features and functions if you cannot find a user review to look at.

Digital Camera Reviews 2010

As it comes to the end of the year many camera enthusiasts are eager to read reviews especially as Christmas approaches. It's now at the end of 2010 and many new digital cameras have been released this year. This article will go into small sections of three of the best compact cameras which have been released this year.

One of the first cameras I will start off with is the Lumix TZ10. This special travel camera has been selling like mad and continues to into the New Year. What makes this digital camera so unique is the fact that it has its own GPS tracking system which helps you find landmarks and monument across the country. This is especially useful if you are a picture hobbyist or seek to brag about adventures and conquests.

One of the other compact cameras is slightly different but still offers great value for money. This camera is called the Lumix FS30 and is extremely cheap to its other Lumix counter part. In some cases it can be 100% cheaper. This isn't its biggest selling point though; it has a 14.1 mega pixel camera which is astonishing for its cheap price.

However just because these are two of the best digital cameras currently out doesn't mean you should rush out and buy one of them. Many experts would suggest reading reviews before you make a decision. This will help you think about other options you have and give you a great opportunity to find the best prices as they can change drastically.

Camera Reviews - Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera (20x Optical Zoom)

The new Canon PowerShot SX20IS is a new mega-zoom model that has just been release in mid-August this year (2009). It is the successor to the very successful SX10IS model that has been reining the bestseller's charts for quite some time now.

One of the new features found on the Canon PowerShot SX20IS is that it can record HD videos at 720p. This model uses a 28-50mm wide-angle lens that has a 20x optical zoom. The zoom can be used while recording videos. It also has a 12.1MP image sensor, and like most new Canon models, uses a DIGIC 4 processor that produces excellent image quality.

On the back of the camera, you will find a 2.5-inch LCD display that can be rotated at various angles. There is also a button that is dedicated for recording videos that lets you record movies with a push of the button.

As a successor to the SX10IS, the new Canon PowerShot SX20IS did not disappoint. It retains many of the great features of the older model (user-friendly interface) and tops it up with a couple more. The image quality is quite stunning considering its price range. They were even better in many ways than those taken on some of my more expensive DSLR cameras.

At first glance, the Canon PowerShot SX20IS may seem a little bulky, but it is actually surprising comfortable to hold. It has a good, comfortable grip and feels very durable. With the looks of this new model, it looks like Canon is set to rein the mega-zoom camera market for a long time to come. Currently, the Canon PowerShot SX20IS retails at around $399 each.

What Is The Best Digital Camera Brand?

If ever there was a controversial question amongst the hordes of digital camera enthusiasts, it has to be "What is the best digital camera brand?". Sometimes referred to as "What is the best brand of digital camera to buy?", but not to be confused with "What is the best camera to buy?". Because everyone knows that regular (film) cameras are far superior to digital cameras. Hang on a sec, or was that the other way around? Who can keep track these days? Now before I digress too far from the topic, lets take a look at that age old battle, and see if we can determine which brand is best.

First things first, in the spirit of full disclosure, I need to declare that I do in fact own several cameras. They represent a variety of brands. I have two Canons, a Fuji, and a Kodak. I must confess, that I am somewhat partial to Canon, but I'll try not to let that cloud any editorial comments I may subsequently make.

If digital camera sales were any indication of what the best brand was, then according to Amazon.com Canon would be a clear winner. As I write this, Canon manufactures 18 of the top 25 bestselling cameras on their best seller list. In addition, Canon holds 9 of the top 10 spots, with the top 3 being the PowerShot A570 IS, the PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph, and the PowerShot SD850. Sharing the top 11 spots with Canon are 2 of the Pure Video manufactured Flip Video cameras. Nikon has 2 cameras in the top 25 including the Nikon D40, and the Nikon D300. Panasonic sneaks in with a couple of their Lumix models, specifically the DMC-TZ3K and the DMC-TZ3A. And finishing in a strong 25th spot, that old stalwart Kodak with the Easyshare Z812IS.

Of course being popular, or the best seller does not the best brand make. It simply means you have the best salesmanship. In that world, Canon seems to be having the most success. How exactly would we determine the best brand? Best service, best design, best features, best customer support, best images, and best user experience are all valid traits. Perhaps a critical / scientific /empirical examination of all cameras models by manufacturer would be in order. Let's see if we can aggregate a lot of the work already done by a couple of camera review sites who take the above traits into consideration.

A perusal of one top camera review site under their 5 star category, show 39 Canon cameras, 18 Sony cameras, 17 Nikon cameras, 6 Fuji cameras, 5 Olympus cameras, 5 Panasonic cameras, 3 Pentax cameras, and 1 Konica camera. A second camera review site under their top 103 cameras showed 46 Canon cameras, 21 Sony cameras, 20 Nikon cameras, 5 Pentax cameras, 3 Fuji cameras, 2 Samsung cameras, 2 Panasonic cameras, 2 Kodak cameras, 1 Konica camera, and 1 Casio camera. If you total all that up, the top 3 end up being Canon with 85, Sony a distant second with 39, and Nikon a very close third with 37. Everyone else had less than 10 top rated cameras.

Digital Camera Reviews - Sony DSC N2, DSC T100 and Canon EOS 400D

Sony Cyber-shot DSC N2

The Sony DSC N2 is a stylish digital camera with ten mega pixels and a three times optical zoom. The feature that sets the DSC N2 apart from just about all other digital cameras is its large 3" touch LCD screen. This cuts the number of dials and buttons the camera has to an absolute minimum, helping to accentuate its looks and style.

Another feature that adds to the attraction of the camera is the fact it has a manual exposure mode. This allows you to set the shutter speed and aperture you shoot at. This model is probably aimed at the more casual user who still wants the premium picture quality to boast at cocktail parties. There is some debate on whether the CPU, or 'brain', of the DSC is any better than the DSC N1, so that the extra megapixels may not be processed in a manner that makes the pictures any better. I would recommend trying one out in the shop before committing yourself to a purchase.

Rating: 3 out of 5

Sony DSC-T100

The DSC-T100 fits an amazing combination of high-tech features into super-slim dimensions. It has high-resolution 8.1 MP imaging, a powerful 5x optical zoom lens and a huge 3.0" Clear Photo LCD Plus screen that lets you snap and share photos easily. This means that it can zoom in closer to distant objects with better clarity than the majority of the other brands that fit into a pocket. The optical zoom is the best feature of this camera, and would be very useful for images at concerts, wildlife photography or impressive holiday snaps. The size makes it very portable and I would recommend this one over the DSC N2.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Canon EOS 400D

The Canon EOS 400D is the latest member of Canon's extensive range of SLR digital cameras. It is now over three years since Canon released their first entry-level DSLR, the 6 megapixel EOS 300D, which kick-started the whole budget DSLR boom. An entry-level camera, the new Canon 400D has a hard act to follow as it attempts to build on the success of the 300D and 350D models. The 400D closely follows the general design of the 350D, having similar compact proportions to the older model, but it adds some new features to try and remain competitive in what has become a rapidly expanding sector of the photography market. This model is more for the budget professional, perhaps as a useful backup for the main shooter. That said, you can always rely on Canon to bring a functional and competent camera, and the styling of this model would feel at home in any paparazzi's man-bag.

ZXN - Unlocked, Dual Sim Mobile Phone Made For Messaging With a 3.0 Mega Pixel Digital Camera

The Chinese cell phones were popular this time last year as the iPhone was all the rage, but the troubling economy has given them a huge boost and their popularity is soaring. Having an unlocked phone makes a lot of financial sense because you are not chained to any one carrier or network and are free to shop around for the best deal.

If there was ever a drawback with the clones though, it was that most of the more popular models required us to text, email and send messages on a flat screen. Some people don't mind this, but there are seasoned texters who much prefer the speed of texting on real, raised keys.

The Chinese manufacturers have responded with a few models that were not only made for messaging, but have upgraded cameras as well. The ZXN is one of the newer models in this category. This phone is also sometimes called ZXN95, or for the silver model, ZXN(S).

What is so appealing about the phone is that it has a full keyboard / scroll bar, a 3.0 mega pixel digital camera, and it's probably one of the cheapest clones on the market, sometimes pricing in around the $50 range.

Don't let the cheap price fool you though, the Z model is pretty loaded, with: a 2.6 inch touch screen; a built in 3.0 mega pixel digital camera which doubles as a high quality web cam; full MP3 / MP4 capabilities; Bluetooth 2.0; 4 very sharp vibrating speakers; expandable 2GB of memory; and web browsing, emailing and messaging with WAP, GPRS, SMS, MMS, including voice mail.

Some feel that this phone is a knock off of the Sony Ericsson c702a because of the advanced editing features, the high resolution digital camera and the messaging features.

The original version is black and the S version (which seems to be more popular) is silver. This mobile is tri band and supports GSM 900/ 1800 / 1900 MHZ bands, so it works with most carriers, including Cingular, Fido, SunCom, and T-Mobile to name only a few. A quick check with your carrier can tell you which band you currently use. This phone does not need software and will read your sim card.

I would compare this one to the Nokia N99i clone, as both are texting phones with 3.0 MP cameras, but the difference between the two is that the N99i has analog television included and is more expensive.

Hidden Spy Camera Sunglasses With DVR - Product Review

I will be the first to admit that this cool product is not for everyone. It is a specialty 'body worn' hidden spy camera with a built in camera, DVR and mini microphone all built into a pair of good looking polarized sunglasses. Only so called 'body worn' surveillance gear can have built in microphones for legal reasons.

How Does It Work?

The camera controls are on the left temple piece of the glasses for easy access.

1. Power on/off - to get started.

2. Select the Mode - MP3 automatically at start up with headphones then either video (DV) or still shots (DC).

3. Playback - Use the included USB cable to hook up to your computer to see what you recorded. Easy enough?

The camera has a field of view of sixty degrees and is in color. The battery charge of five hours will give you on average 3.5 hours of recording time at 25 FPS with a resolution of 680 X 480 for video and 1280 X 960 for still shots. The battery can be recharged using the USB charger. No additional drivers needed.

The mini microphone has a range of up to 8 feet.

There is 4 GB of on board flash memory built in with the ability for even more video storage via a micro SD (TF) card slot up to 8GB (not included).

Video, still shots from a camera, audio, built in DVR, and MP3 player with headphones all in a stylish pair of shades. The next generation in hidden spy cameras is here. When are you getting one?

Viewing an IP Network Camera over the Internet

IP Network cameras are designed to work in a Local Area Network (LAN) and over the Internet. Within
a LAN, IP Network cameras allow for motoring local to the computer network to which the cameras are
attached to. With additional configuration of your computer network you have the ability to allow
for your IP Network Camera to be monitored not only locally but remotely as well using the Internet.
For advice on how to configure your network to allow for your camera to work over the Internet please
follow this guide.

Configuration - Local Access

Before you are able to configure your camera to work over the Internet we suggest configuring the
camera for local access first. Please refer to the technical documentation that came with your camera
for proper instructions on initial configuration of your camera. Once the camera has been configured
for local access you are then ready to start configuration for remote access to the camera over the
Internet.

Configuration - Remote Access

Before you proceed to configure your local network to allow your camera to be monitored from a remote
location, we suggest that you contact your network administrator to ensure you have the proper authority
to configure remote access to the camera. Once you have consulted with your network administrator you
may proceed to configure remote access to the camera.

In order to configure your camera to work over the Internet you will need to configure what is called
Port Forwarding. Port Forwarding allows for you to access the camera from a remote location by
forwarding the network ports used by the camera onto the Internet. These ports are usually forwarded
by accessing your network's router and configuring the router to forward the ports used by the camera.
For details as to what ports will be required for forwarding for your IP Network Camera, please consult
the manufacturer of your camera. For additional information beyond this guide regarding Port Forwarding,
please visit http://www.portforward.com where you will be able to find step by step guides on Port Forwarding
specific to different models of routers.

Step 1 - Obtain IP Address Information

In order to access your network's router for configuration of port forwarding you will require the IP
Address of the router to which the camera is connected to. You can obtain this IP Address information
by consulting with the network administrator of your network or by opening up a Command Prompt within
Windows and entering in the "ipconfig /all" command. To open a command prompt window you will need to
click on the Window's Start button and then proceed to click on Run. Now you will enter in "cmd" and
click on "Ok" to proceed.

Once you have displayed the IP Configuration for your computer using the "ipconfig /all" command, you
will then be able to record the IP Address for your router. You will need this IP Address in order to
access your router for configuring Port Forwarding. Your network router's IP Address will be displayed
as the Default Gateway.

Step 2 - Accessing your Network's Router

Now that you have obtained the IP Address for your network's router you will then need to proceed to
access your router by typing in the router's IP Address in a web browser.

Step 3 - Configuring Port Forwarding on your Router

Now that you have access to the network router you will then need to proceed to browse to the
configuration section on the router where port forwarding is to take place. Please consult with the
manufacturer of your router for details as to where this section is. You may also review the website
NetworkCameraReviews.com where you will find detailed forum posts on port forwarding with various routers.

The Private IP Address for the camera (local IP Address of camera) has been entered in as well as a unique
name that will be associated with this particular port that is to be forwarded. In this example port
80 will be forwarded for the camera. Please consult with the manufacturer of your camera for details
on what port(s) will be forwarded. Some IP Network Cameras require more then one port to be forwarded
in order for you to obtain all the features the camera has to offer. You will also be presented with
an option to select a Protocol to be to be used. Common options found are UDP, TCP or Both. Your router
may have additional options. In most cases you will need to select the protocol option "Both". This
will associate both UDP and TCP protocols to the port(s) being forwarded. In this example we with click
on the Apply button once all required information has been entered.

After the settings have been saved within the router's configuration you should be able to see this
information displayed in a list. There may be other entries in this list already by default.

Step 4 - Accessing your IP Network Camera over the Internet

Now that you have configured port forwarding on your network's router to allow the camera to be accessed
over the Internet, you are now ready to attempt to access the camera. We suggest attempting to access
the camera from a remote location and not within the local network for confirmation that port forwarding
was configured properly. At a remote location you will need to type in the Public IP Address that is
provided by you Internet Service Provider (ISP) in order for you to be able to access your camera.
Please contact your ISP if you are not sure what your Public IP Address is. You will not be able to
access the camera by it's Private IP Address (Example: 192.168.0.100) because the camera's Private IP
Address cannot be seen on the Internet and can only be seen within the local network to which the camera
is attached to.

In most applications port 80 will be forwarded and because of this no port information will be required
in the Address Bar when attempting to access the camera. However, there are cases where an IP Network
Camera will not use port 80. These cases are usually related to security concerns with using port 80.
We suggest contacting your network administrator or the manufacturer of you router to inquire upon the
possible security concerns with forwarding port 80. If port 80 is not the port being used you will be
required to enter in the full IP Address followed by a colon and the port number used.

You should now be able to fully access your IP Network Camera from a remote location using the
Internet. If you require any additional support for configuring your camera for remote access, we
strongly suggest that you contact the manufacturer of your camera, the manufacturer of your network's
router or review the detailed guides found on NetworkCameraReviews.com

ContourHD 1080p Full HD Helmet Sport Camera Review

The ContourHD helmet sport camera boasts about it being the smallest and lightest HD wearable camcorder in the world. Contour, the manufacturer, also says the helmet camera is the first to shoot and share 1080p video. The Contour brand began when two extreme sport enthusiasts wanted to share their adventures with friends.

This sport action camera was designed for the outdoor/extreme sport enthusiasts. It's a durable and waterproof camera with an aluminum and fiberglass body. There are several features that allow for easy operation while users are recording action, such as: single button operation (it's made to be worn with gloves on), dual lasers for alignment, and provides the user with superior quality 1080 pixel video.

There are no tapes or wires on the ContourHD and images can be recorded for up to 8 hours. The helmet cam has four settings; metering, contrast, exposure, and microphone sensitivity. The two choices of frame rates are 30 and 60 frames per minute and users have five video resolutions to choose from:

• Full HD - 1080p (1920×1280)
• Tall HD - 960p (1280×960)
• Action HD - 720p (1080×720)
• Contour HD - 720p (1080×720)
• Fast SD - WVGA (848×480)

The helmet camera is lightweight (4.3 ounces) and is completely hands-free due to the manufacturers' patent-pending, 'trail mounts "slide and lock" system', that enables users to mount the sport camera virtually anywhere. There are two lasers and a rotating lens to ensure every image is lined up perfectly. Another great feature is that the sport camera is made to power from a removable and rechargeable battery.
There is the 'shoot and share' option to immediately share videos.

The software included with the sport camera, Easy Edit, allows the user to import and edit their images and videos and share them with the world. The Easy Edit software adds the ability to 'clip' the user's favorite scenes, tag them and add descriptions and then images and videos are ready to go!

ContourHD 1080p Features

• Full HD Recording (1080p) 1920×1080 pixels
• 5 Megapixel Sensor
• Internal Microphone
• Removable Lithium-Ion Battery: records up to four hours
• Aluminum and Fiberglass, Water-Resistant Body

ContourHD 1080p Reviews

More than not, the reviews for this sport camera are extremely positive. Users love the clarity and high-quality of the images and videos and most of them mentioned that it is extremely easy to use. There are many comments on the off/on slide and how easy it is to turn on with gloves on. The only negative comment about use is that it turns off after several minutes of non-use and doesn't warn the user. Users have complained about not realizing that the sport camera is off and believe they are recording when they actually aren't.

Although users love the images and videos, there have been some complaints surrounding the sound quality. Comments suggest that it picks up a lot of wind noise and/or is not able to hear voices over 5 or so feet. There is also an issue with not being able to tell the indicator lights apart.

Despite minor issues, the camera reviews have been extremely favorable about the ContourHD helmet camera. If there are any issues, they are forgotten once users see the exquisite picture quality.
With all the favorable camera reviews we believe the ContourHD helmet camera is one of the best helmet cameras on the market today.
